Personalised search from Zurich

Search for a car in Germany to bring to Spain

If you have not chosen a specific car, we turn your needs into search criteria and an initial proposal for comparing candidates. Germany is the main sourcing route; the search is coordinated from our Zurich base, with no local offices in Madrid, Barcelona or Valencia. The initial consultation and proposal are free and do not commit you to buying. A physical inspection and any later service are quoted separately, with scope and price provided before you decide whether to proceed.

  • Free initial consultation and search proposal
  • Comparable candidates, requirements and open questions identified
  • You decide whether to commission later services or buy

Define the search brief and scope

During the consultation, we clarify what you are looking for, how you will use the car and your indicative overall budget for the vehicle and import. We agree the body style, size, make or acceptable alternatives, engine, transmission, maximum mileage and age, essential equipment and negotiable preferences. Tell us whether you have a target date, how long you can wait and whether you would consider other colours, configurations or sellers.

The initial search focuses on Germany. Belgium and the Netherlands are considered only if local availability allows us to handle the request and the car and its documents make that route worth assessing. Their inclusion is not guaranteed. Switzerland is outside the European Union and requires a separate review of the import procedure, customs formalities and applicable taxes; it is not treated as an intra-EU purchase and is not automatically included in a Germany search proposal.

The intended destination is Spain, but final requirements depend on the vehicle and its documentation. Madrid, Barcelona and Valencia are possible destinations, not locations where Autohaus Zephyr has an office or local team. The service is coordinated from Zurich, and any in-person work depends on location, availability and the agreed quote.

What the initial proposal provides

Once we have enough detail to define the brief, we prepare a free initial search proposal. Its purpose is to agree how to search and what may be worth checking, not to certify vehicles or promise that a suitable car is available. When candidates are available to assess, we present information to help you compare them: the listing details, seller identification where available, asking price, location, relevant features and outstanding questions or checks.

The proposal may flag differences between a listing and your criteria, missing information and questions to put to the seller. We can also help organise possible next steps and identify costs or requirements that need confirmation before you commit. We do not assume that an advertised price includes transport, taxes, registration, inspections or administration: each item must be confirmed for the particular transaction.

Listings and stock can change, and a proposal does not reserve a vehicle. The seller must confirm availability, condition and sale terms. If you want a physical inspection, additional coordination or another later service, you will receive a separate quote describing the proposed work and its limits before accepting it.

Information needed and documents to verify

To start, send your criteria and budget, the destination town or area in Spain, your preferred or flexible timeframe and any listing you are already considering. Tell us which requirements are essential and which you would consider relaxing. The initial consultation is not a vehicle reservation; do not send payment details as part of it.

Before proceeding with a particular car, the buyer and seller must verify the seller’s identity and authority to sell, who is named as the owner and who will receive payment. The seller and payment beneficiary must be identified before any reservation or payment. The VIN must also be matched against the car and its documents, and the exact description and version, stated mileage, history and written sale terms should be checked. Request and review, where available and applicable, the German registration certificate (Zulassungsbescheinigung Teil I), ownership document (Teil II), European Certificate of Conformity (CoC), invoices or contract, service history, technical inspection records such as TÜV, and export or deregistration documents. The presence of a document alone does not establish that it is complete or sufficient.

Before buying or transporting the car, the parties should confirm with the relevant authorities or a qualified professional which Spanish documents are required for that vehicle, what technical approval or inspection procedure applies, which taxes and fees apply, and what evidence or translations, if any, must be submitted. They should also check the tax treatment of the sale—including the invoice and VAT status where relevant—and transport, registration and vehicle-registration requirements. We do not set rates, amounts or a universal checklist: these depend on the vehicle, seller and transaction and must be verified for the specific case.

What the service includes—and what is not guaranteed

The initial consultation and search proposal are free. Their scope is to define criteria and guide an initial search; they do not include a physical inspection, mechanical diagnosis, valuation, official verification of ownership, tax or legal advice, import administration or reservation. Each later service is quoted separately according to the vehicle, its location, availability and requested work. You may accept or decline each quote before work starts.

We do not guarantee savings compared with buying in Spain, stock, final price, availability, financing or registration approval, delivery time, mechanical condition or complete inspection coverage. If commissioned, an inspection is limited to the scope, method, date and conditions stated in its quote; it cannot rule out hidden defects or replace an informed decision by the buyer. We are not the seller of every advertised vehicle, a customs authority, a vehicle guarantor or an insurer.

You decide whether to buy. The buyer contracts with and pays the identified seller directly, not Autohaus Zephyr. Autohaus fees and third-party services are itemised separately. Do not reserve a car or send funds until the seller, their authority to sell and the payment beneficiary have been identified, and you have confirmed the contract, amount, terms and relevant documents in writing.

Next step: send a useful brief

To get started, send your indicative maximum budget, car type or models, usual use, mileage and age limits, preferred engine and transmission, essential equipment, destination in Spain and how long you can wait. Include listing links if you have them and say what you would not accept. If your budget is meant to include transport and import costs, state that explicitly: the total can only be estimated once the vehicle, route, tax position and applicable requirements are clarified.

We will review whether the brief is specific enough to propose a search approach and tell you what information is still missing. If you accept a proposal and a candidate is identified, you will receive the relevant scope and price before commissioning an inspection or other work. Before reserving or paying for the car, confirm the seller’s identity and payment beneficiary, documents, price and terms. At every stage, you remain free to proceed, revise your criteria or stop.

Before your next step

How much does it cost to start the search?

The initial consultation and search proposal are free. A physical inspection and later services are quoted separately, with scope and cost provided before you decide whether to commission them.

Do I need to know the exact make and model?

No. You can start with the type of car, its intended use and your budget. Mileage, age and equipment limits help us develop useful comparison criteria.

Does the proposal commit me to buying?

No. The initial proposal is not a reservation and does not commit you to buying or commissioning later services. You can proceed, revise the criteria or stop.

Who do I pay for the car, and what should I check first?

You buy and pay the identified seller directly. Before any reservation or payment, verify who is selling, their authority to sell, who will receive the funds, and the contract, vehicle identity, documents and applicable terms.
