Belgium → Spain · individual vehicle assessment
Assess a car from Belgium before bringing it to Spain
Send us the listing and the information available so we can assess that vehicle and define possible next steps. Belgium is a conditional route depending on the car, its documents and local availability; Germany is our main sourcing route. The initial consultation and initial search proposal are free. A physical inspection and any later services are quoted separately. We coordinate from our Zurich base; this page does not represent a local office in Spain.

- List of documents and points to verify
- Scope and later costs provided before acceptance

What the initial assessment covers
We review the information you provide about the car: a link or copy of the listing, make, model, year, advertised mileage, price, VIN if available, location and seller contact details. Include your approximate total budget, the destination town in Spain and when you hope to have the vehicle. You do not need to reserve the car to request this initial assessment.
The output is a proposed set of next steps: observations on the listing's consistency, documents worth requesting, questions for the seller and missing items needed to estimate the full cost. It is not a vehicle certificate, an independent verification of the seller or confirmation that the car is still available. If the listing does not support a responsible assessment, we will say what information is missing.
- Comparison of the advertised price with your budget and costs still to be confirmed.
- Advice on whether to request more evidence, consider an inspection or rule out the vehicle.
- A separate proposal for any additional work we may be able to coordinate.

Car-Pass, mileage and advertised condition
Ask the seller for a Car-Pass where applicable and check that it identifies the specific vehicle using consistent details, including the VIN. It can help you review recorded mileage history in Belgium, but by itself it does not establish mechanical condition, rule out damage or verify every statement in the listing. If it is unavailable, ask the seller why and what other documentary evidence they can provide; do not treat the question as resolved without checking.
Also request maintenance invoices and records, information about damage or repairs, the number of keys and written answers to questions relevant to that car. Compare dates and mileages across the listing, Car-Pass, invoices and vehicle documents. A physical inspection, if agreed and locally available, is an additional service with its own scope and fee. Every inspection has limits: what can be checked depends on access, the vehicle's condition and the work agreed, and no inspection guarantees that every defect will be found.

Documents, tax and technical requirements to verify
Before committing money, ask the seller for a written list of the originals they will provide. Depending on the case, identify and verify the Belgian registration certificate and its parts, the sale contract or invoice showing VIN, price and seller identity, a certificate of conformity (CoC) if available, a Car-Pass where applicable, maintenance history and any available roadworthiness inspection documents. Also confirm who handles deregistration or export formalities in Belgium, which plates or transport arrangement will be used, and whether each document is original, complete and valid for the intended procedure.
The seller should explain in writing how the price is stated and how the sale is treated for tax purposes. Buyer, seller and tax advisers must verify the regime applicable to that vehicle, the correct invoice and any VAT obligations; do not infer them solely from the country or advertised price. For Spanish registration, confirm the exact documents, acceptance of homologation or a CoC, inspections, taxes, forms and required steps with the DGT, an ITV inspection station and the competent tax authorities, taking account of the vehicle's characteristics and status. We do not assume a Belgian document is sufficient or state rates or requirements without verification.

Services, quotation and who sells the vehicle
The initial consultation and initial search proposal are free. An expanded document review, physical inspection, transport coordination, registration assistance or other later services are not assumed to be included: if we can offer them for that vehicle and location, we will send a quotation stating tasks, exclusions, costs and any third parties involved for your acceptance before engagement. Belgium and the Netherlands are conditional routes, subject to local availability and whether the car and documents are suitable; Germany is our main sourcing route.
The buyer purchases and pays for the vehicle directly from the identified seller. Before any reservation or payment, the legal seller and the beneficiary of the receiving account must be identified, and their correspondence to the transaction checked. Do not send funds based solely on unverified payment instructions. Autohaus Zephyr fees and third-party services are shown separately. We are not the universal seller of vehicles, a customs authority, guarantor or insurer, and a proposal does not guarantee approval, availability, savings or any particular outcome.

What to send and how to choose the next step
Send us the listing link, VIN if known, price, location, available documents or photos, questions for the seller, total budget and specific destination in Spain. Also tell us whether you have already spoken to the seller or paid a deposit. We will review the initial information and tell you whether it makes sense to request further documents, ask for a separately priced inspection proposal or compare another vehicle. We will not contact the seller or reserve the car on your behalf without first agreeing the relevant scope.
For destination planning, specify which office or ITV inspection station you expect to use, who can receive the vehicle and your personal timeframe. These details help frame questions and logistics; they are not a promised date. If comparing sourcing routes, remember Germany is the main route. Belgium and the Netherlands depend on the individual case. Switzerland is outside the EU and must not be treated as an intra-EU purchase: any Swiss route requires separate verification of customs, tax and documents with the competent authorities and professionals. The purchase decision remains yours and should be based on evidence and confirmed costs.

How much does the assessment cost?
The initial consultation and initial search proposal are free. A physical inspection and later services are quoted separately, depending on the vehicle, location, availability and requested scope. You receive the quotation before accepting.
Who do I pay for the car?
You buy and pay for the vehicle directly from the identified seller. Before reserving or paying, verify the seller's legal identity and that the payment beneficiary corresponds to the transaction. Autohaus Zephyr fees and third-party services are itemised separately.
Does a Car-Pass replace an inspection?
No. It can provide information about recorded mileage, but it does not establish mechanical condition or rule out damage. A physical inspection, if available and commissioned, is a separate service and also has limitations.
Can you confirm that the car will be registered in Spain?
We cannot guarantee registration or document acceptance. Buyer and seller must verify the transaction documents, and you should confirm technical, tax and administrative requirements with the DGT, ITV and competent authorities before committing to the purchase.
